I’ve been working on my Sweetheart Socks [Ravelry] for Cameron’s mom. See? I’m getting a head start on Christmas gifts. I started this one on January 1, 2009, so that’s quite the head start. There are a lot of cables in these babies, though.
Next up, my February Baby Sweater [Ravelry]. I knitted this on US 4/3.5 mm needles. The yarn I used was Socks that Rock lightweight in Firebird. This little thing only took me ten days to knit and sew buttons on. Three of those days, it just sat buttonless.
Either this sweater or this sweater will be going to my best friend’s brother and sister-in-law’s new baby, who is expected sometime in November. Which ever one I don’t give to them, I will be sending to my grandmother’s nephew’s once removed baby. I’m not sure when he and his fiancée are expecting, but I spent time with them during my trip to England last summer and I would like to congratulate them and thank them again.

Twenty-four hours is all it took for my roommate to go from never have knitted a stitch to a finished object. She’s got knit, purl, and switching between the two down pat. She’s currently working on another square, with a seed stitch border. I’m pretty impressed.
I had my first knit night here at school on Thursday and it was fun. I showed some of the other girls how to increase and decrease. I hope that it becomes a regular thing because I enjoyed it.

I’ve been crocheting on this little blanket for a while now. Just to practice and to use up my pretty sock yarn of which I always have extra. I have shorter feet and my (huge) calves start sooner, so knit shorter legs and feet of my socks. Mostly though, I just like using my mother’s little crochet hook. It says 3 on it, so I’m not sure what that actually means, but it might be around 2-3mm. Raveled

I spent my day between plying, surfing the internet, and watching Band of Brothers, which was on television all day. Cameron has pretty much been here all day. He left for a while, but he just came back to watch basketball (or, apparently, wrestling). I discovered that my dorm window has cracked and we have no idea how it happened. Nothing had fallen on it or anything. The only thing I can think of is a bird flew into and we missed it, or something freaky happened with the partially open other window. I sent a repair request to the school, but I don’t think I should have to pay for it because, hello!, I didn’t do it, it just happened.
I let the light escape, so I don’t have good photos for today. I only worked a couple rows on Laminaria and the rest of my crafting time has been taken by trying to ply my yarn in one day.

A couple months ago I taught my roommate how to crochet. She wanted to start off with a blanket wide enough to cover a full bed. Yesterday, I let her use my ball winder and she loves it.
The only problem is how she holds her work and yarn. You can kind of tell from the photo that she’s holding all of the work between the “v” of her thumb and index finger. Soon enough, that blanket isn’t going to be able to be squished there. I’m not sure how we should fix it. She wants me to teach her to knit too, so I’m thinking she might learn Continental knitting better. That wouldn’t be a problem, except I can’t hold the yarn the way she does with my index finger. My index finger has to be touching the needle, while she holds hers in the air. Hopefully, videos will be sufficient enough. Maybe I’ll just make her be a Thrower and save me all that work. :)

I’ve finished spinning up the first two ounces of the roving I dyed last summer with Emily. I’m pretty sure it’s superwash BFL, correct me if I’m wrong, Em.
