Here I am, putting the final touches on my grandpa’s vest (ravelry) on Father’s Day, only a couple holidays short of when I said it’d be done.
whip stitching down the steek
It looks great on him and he seemed very pleased to receive it, insisting that it would fit no matter what. More information on the pattern, yarn, and modifications are located on my project page, linked above.
I mailed out my Super Crafty Swap package this morning before work, so I hope it finds it’s recipient very soon! I’ll be on the look out for mine. I hope it comes tomorrow because that’s my only full day with nothing scheduled (except for sewing time!) and I’ll have all day to check everything out.

I went over to Allen, Michigan’s “antique capital”, to look for a couple things to include in my Super Crafty Swap, whose deadline to mail boxes is Monday, by the way. I’m having fun putting together my box. I’ll post a photo tomorrow before I finish it off. The photo above includes a few of my finds for me. I love the patterns on old pyrex dishes, so I had to get this bowl (and a matching larger bowl). I also picked up some local granola. I really need to try making it myself though.
Just past Allen is Jonesville, which is where my first LYS is located. I got some sock yarn and buttons for a couple projects, to be debuted by Father’s day.
I hope your weekend is off to a great start!

I can’t believe how dependent I am on Twitter to keep up with my friends. I have things to say! Like, “My Chibi case broke! I’m going to lose my darning needles!”. The threading snapped off with the cap screwed on. I picked it up off the floor with my foot (yeah, we’ve all done it) and the lid fell off. On closer examination, it’s broken! That was the only thing keeping me from losing my needles.
On the topic of darning needles, straight or bent-tipped? I’m in the straight camp because that’s what I grew up seeing because my aunt does plastic canvas work. She has more (Red Heart) yarn than I do! I know at least one person in my knitting group (Hi, Shannon!) who uses the bent-tipped Chibi. I can imagine there’s a benefit to seaming with them, but most of my projects are done seamlessly and I only use them to weave in ends.
Holly gave me Your Guide to Quilting by Jo-Ann Fabrics. I looked it over last night and it answered a few questions. I’m looking forward to trying out some of the techniques shown. There are many step-by-step photo tutorials that look well put together. It’s inspiring, that’s for sure!
Of course, as soon as I post this, Twitter’s back up. Thank the Twitter that made me blog again.

I knitted these cloths for Kristy and her fiance Mike. I used Schachenmayr nomotta Cotton Eco Color with US 5s. Details on the ravelry page.
They’ll be getting married on Saturday. Since I’m in the wedding party, the end of this week is going to be hectic. We’re going to try to go get our nails done on Thursday, but I work that morning. Friday will be set-up day and rehearsal dinner. Saturday will start out early with hair at 8 am, ceremony at 2, and the reception and dinner following. I’m already tired thinking about it. A teammate of Kristy’s will be the photographer, but I think I’ll still try to get in a few photos with my camera.

I think today was a rather productive day. I mailed out a package, dropped some clothes off at Goodwill, and put away all of my clothes. I even played a little bit of tennis with Cameron. In the next few days, I’ll be sorting through all of my crafty stash to put together a package for my Super Crafty Swap. I hope my partner won’t be too bummed that I can mostly only offer yarn from my stash because that’s mostly what I do. I don’t have much scrapbooking paper or anything because I think I threw that away (horror!) last summer when I cleaned out all of my stuff. At least I’ve got $10 to play with. I think I need to hit my local coffee shop, Northwoods. They have a bunch of cute little stuff that might be fun to include for my partner.
Well, I’m going end my evening with a cup of tea and some knitting. And junk TV.
