happy holidays!

I’ve been home from school for nearly two weeks and it’s been going by very quickly. Christmas and all of it’s traditions have come and gone and now it’s almost time for the new year.

A bit of mindless, but satisfying knitting that’s been keeping me company.

Thanksgiving 2010

My family gathered a few days before Thanksgiving for dinner and gifts. We’ve had to combine Thanksgiving and Christmas since my grandparents stopped coming back up to Michigan for the holidays. They’ve agreed to stay later in the fall, so we can still celebrate once I can get home from school. They travel down to Florida on Thanksgiving, when the roads are fairly clear of other travellers.

For the actual last Thursday of November, I went with Cameron’s family to Pennsylvania, where we stayed at his aunt and uncle’s house, along with his grandparents, and uncle’s family. There was a total of seventeen people staying in one house for a few days. It was a lot of fun. There were great appetizers and wonderful cheeses to be had before dinners. His aunt MP made the most delicious black bean salad I’ve ever had and I must try to get the recipe.

His family always tries to help me find yarn shops whenever I visit with them. We found Natural Stitches near Trader Joe’s. I’ve never been to a Trader Joe’s, but we were running out of time, so I chose to hit up the yarn shop (Cameron joined me) while the rest of our group went in for snacks that we can’t easily get anywhere else. I really enjoyed this shop. It’s layout was simple, but organized, and they had a beautiful wall of Cascade 220, more colors than I’ve seen all at once before. I left with two skeins of 220 for a gift and this skein of Malabrigo sock.

I wish I had taken more photos while I was there, but I was, not overwhelmed, but kept busy with all of the people that I only get to see once or twice a year. I did learn while trying to take a group photo that I want a remote and that we had tried to take the photo during the day before the sun disappeared.

Where Am I?
